Like many countries, the Netherlands has a chronic shortage of housing, but it’s taking an innovative, sustainable path to tackle the problem.
Project Milestone, a collaboration between Eindhoven’s Technical University, town council and construction companies, is building homes using a 3D printer.
Each home comprises 24 concrete units which are ‘printed’ over 120 hours, before being assembled onsite. The wall panels are filled with insulation material, and the outlay is just a fraction of the cost of regular houses.
