Two Australian suburbs have made it into TimeOut’s list of 20 Coolest Neighbourhoods in the World, taking their place amongst some very trendy locales.
With live music, factory outlets and a rich culture of hospitality, Richmond in Melbourne came in at #10. What makes it even better, its council was one of the first local governments in the world to declare a climate emergency and commit to ‘greening’ the suburb for good.
From its past as a slum riddled with gang warfare, vice and poverty, Sydney’s Surry Hills is now the epitome of cosmopolitan life, offering lazy brunches, excellent coffee, and hideaway bars to techies, journalists and fashionistas alike. Which is why it came in at #19 on the list.
