The ultimate dream home would surely reflect its owner – and so it is with the Miyako Island residence built by Japanese multidisciplinary artist Mariko Mori.
Mori, who has worn only white since 1998 when she had a spiritual experience and saw an ‘extremely white light’, recently revealed her new home, which strongly resembles her art: ‘white, luminescent, ultra-minimalist and futuristic’. She says the house was inspired by the various bleached shells on the nearby shore, and that she named it after the local sun god.
