Living in a dome or pyramid was a popular dream for many youthful hippies in the 60s, though few probably ended up doing it, let alone having a house worth millions 60 years later.
Yet the nephew of financier J.P. Morgan did just that in 1961, with his architect-designed 3-bedroom beach shack known locally as ‘The Legendary Pyramid House’. It is currently listed for US$4.25 million (AU$6.4m), possibly due to its location on Fire Island, New York, though also perhaps for its glorious high ceilings and soaring glass windows looking over ocean, dunes and bay.
