Winter settles in this weekend, so it’s time to check smoke alarms to make sure they’re installed properly and working.
It’s easy to do: just press the test button on the alarm cover (if you can’t reach it, use a broom handle). Batteries should be replaced once a year and the alarm itself must comply with Australian Standard AS 3786-1993.
All Brisbane rental properties, newly built homes or recently sold properties will now be fitted with the new interconnected smoke alarms. These can be tested by either pressing the test button on the circle controller that will be mounted to the wall (if you have one) or by the test button on the alarm cover.
