Fire authorities are warning residents again of the need for adequate fire alarms, after a Melbourne family lost their two-storey home over Easter.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) said this week that while the family had installed a smoke alarm, it was upstairs and so did not wake their son who was sleeping downstairs. Luckily, he escaped harm, but FRV say that had interconnected alarms been installed in rooms and hallways downstairs and up, the house might have been saved as well.
