One in seven Australians moved house over the past year, according to a survey conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Between March 2020 and April 2021,
– almost half of those (49%) moved locally,
– 31% moved outside their local area, but still within their city or region,
– 13% moved to a different part of their state or territory, and
– 7% moved interstate, or from overseas.
When asked in April 2021 if they were likely to move in the next 12 months, 12% reported they were likely to move, 75% reported they were unlikely to move, and 14% have no plans either way.
