The lava lamp – that essential décor darling of the 60s and 70s – has surprisingly endured to this day and is now celebrating its 60th anniversary through a collaborative that includes pop band Duran Duran.
British lighting production house Mathmos invited several creatives and celebs to design their own spin on the icon, producing limited editions with just 600 pieces of each collaboration available worldwide. Duran Duran’s lamp radiates a silver colour when switched off, glows ‘fiery pink through the metalized glass’ and features signatures of band members etched into the lamp’s cap.
