How to remove scuff marks

Scuff marks. Every wall gets them, especially if there are kids in the house. Yet they’re also surprisingly easy to remove, and without harsh chemicals that could damage paintwork.

The simplest method for getting rid of most scuff marks takes just two quick steps:

  1. Add 250ml white vinegar to half a bucket of water.
  2. Gently wipe stains in a downward motion from top to bottom, using a microfibre cloth dipped in the solution.

For marks that are more stubborn, mix 3 parts baking soda with one part water to form a smooth paste. Apply to the stain using a damp cloth or cotton bud, then wipe off gently with a dry cloth. Avoid using scourers (even gentle ones) as they are likely to scratch the paint.

If the marks have been made by small budding artists using crayons or markers, rub very gently in a circular motion using a damp magic eraser (or following manufacturer’s directions).
