What do you do if you are building your house in the middle of a forest and don’t want to cut down too many trees? Build around them, of course.
At least, that’s what the owner of a home in West Virginia did. The house, which has just come on the market, features four large oak trees growing inside its footprint. Two of the trees are enclosed in floor-to-ceiling glass between the kitchen and dining, while the others have been incorporated in a courtyard.
Exposed wooden beams, glass walls and a wraparound verandah ensure that the owners never lose sight of their surrounds.
