In an act of ingenious design, a multi-generational family has a home that not only looks unique, but is a daily reminder of their connectedness.
The so-called ‘Stairway House’ by Tokyo design house Nendo features a staircase that flows from the garden, through the front glass windows and all the way up three floors to a skylight at the top, becoming increasingly – and impossibly – steeper as it rises.
The family move through the house using a more regular staircase hidden inside the feature, which is reportedly most frequently used by the grandparents’ eight cats.
