Trees rule here

A group of residents in Hobart have opted to swap out car parking spaces on their street for more trees, the ABC reported this week.

Rupert Avenue resident Ruby Wilson told ABC Radio Hobart that a community petition resulted in 83% of people voting in favour of the trees. The next step was to put the idea to the council who also approved, so now the street is proudly nurturing nine crepe myrtle trees, which will be cared for by the council for the next two years until they are well established.
